We Come in Peace
The Loomii is a musical production duo featuring Dave and Peter Loomis, two brothers currently based in Portland and San Francisco. Currently focused on electronic dance music, their sound reflects influences including psychedelic trance, techno, house, dub, metal, rock, country and bluegrass. The Loomii have been producing music together, DJing and playing live shows of their all-original sound up and down the West Coast since 2001.
The Elder Loomii
Dave has lived in the Bay Area for over 11 years, making many contributions to the local art scene. Among these have been several musical projects which have allowed him to broaden his understanding of composition and songwriting, including solo recordings of original guitar and banjo work.
A computer programmer by trade, his technical mastery clearly influences his work and passions. For example, one of Dave's other interests is the development of a lighting and environments company called Lumieria. He is using his technical skills to develop custom lighting circuits and sculptures for use in public or private installations.
The Youngest Loomii
 Peter moved to the Bay Area at the end of 2000, excited by the possibility of exploring a new city and living near his brother again. Since his arrival, he has been composing music and has started his own independent design consultancy.
Previously, he lived in New York City where he worked as an Art Director at an interactive agency. At work, he was able to experiment with computer-based sound programs, and in his spare time, he bought turntables and taught himself how to DJ. Fascinated by the music he was spinning and hearing around the city, he wanted to understand it even further, and began making beats with his first drum machine. As a trained drummer, this was the obvious step into electronic music production.
Before living in New York, Peter had been introduced to the electronic music scene while finishing school near Chicago. He was enthralled by the underground subculture and began to study the different genres of music available there including varieties of house, techno, jungle, and trance.
 Together Again
When Peter moved to San Francisco in late 2000, these long-time musical partners were reunited, excited to develop a cohesive project. Several years and many forays into musical experimentation have led to the formation of The Loomii, providing a forum for past influences to shape new explorations in sound.
